Friday Feature...

Today I would like to feature our best friends:

Neil and Allison Adams

We met Neil and Allie about 4 or 5 months after we got married, in the summer of 2003.  We were in the same ward and one day Neil just came up to us and asked if we wanted to run the St. George marathon with them.  We have been best friends ever since.
Neil currently works for Waste Management and is a bomb salesman, he could sell a ketchup popsicle to a women in white gloves or however that saying goes.  He is extremely personable and becomes fast friends with anyone he meets.  Allie is a stay at home mom and makes vinyl on the side.  She is so creative, talented and smart.  She is a great mom, a wonderful homemaker and an amazing cook.

Beckett James, 3

Beckett is the smartest kid I know.  He can run a computer better than most adults and has an amazing vocabulary.  He loves reading, Spiderman and his cowboy boots.

Fischer Lucas, 11 months

Fischer was born exactly one week before Indie and is the cutest little narfer ever.  He has about 6 teeth and will eat just about anything including his crib.  He is always smiling and is a very content baby.  We are hoping that Indie will wait for him while he is on his mission so they will get married and we can connect our families eternally.  Or maybe I am thinking ahead a little too much...it doesn't hurt to dream, right?
We have had so many adventures with Neil and Al and have made so many memories.  We have experienced a lot of life together and can't wait to experience even more.  We are so glad Neil came up to us that day.  It is rare to find two couples that get along so well, it is like family.  We are so blessed to have them in our lives.

We love you guys.

Creep of the week...

So the other day I get a text from a number that I don't recognize that reads:

Whacha doin?

I text back:

Who is this?

Seconds later I get a call from a guy that goes a little something like this:

Creep: Hey, what's up?

Me: I think you have the wrong number.

Creep: Oh this isn't...Jenny.

Me: No.

Creep: Who is this?

Me: (foolishly) Jessica.

Creep: Oh my bad.

Me: That's okay, bye.

So then a few minutes later I get a text that reads:

Haha well wanna chat? Want a picture?

H.E.L.L. no I don't want a picture.  Luckily Tony is home to comfort me as I start thinking the worst about this creepo guy.  Tony sends a message back that reads:

This is her husband and no she doesn't.  Please stop.

He didn't text or call back, I hate to see what Tony would have done if he would have.

Want a picture?  Want a picture? Really?  Can you imagine what type of picture that freak may have sent?

I am so glad I live in this day and age of modern technology but to think of some of the crap that happens because of it...gives me the creeps.

Thanksgiving Day 5K

Today I want to flashback to November.
Annelee thought it would be fun if we all did a 5K, and fun it was.  In fact, I smell a new tradition a brewin'.  The race took place in Sandy on Thanksgiving morning so we woke up early, bundled up and got ready to run.
I pushed Ind in the jogger and despite the many outfits, hats and fleece blankets she was wearing I still heard jeers from the crowd.  Okay it was only one jeer but seriously this lady was like, "poor baby, poor baby." Indie didn't make a peep and enjoyed the ride.

It's a boy...

Did I scare you?

Did you think I was pregnant?  Pregnant to the point that we could find out what it is, without telling anyone?

Well I'm not...

My sister is having a boy!!!

That's right, a Rigby produced a male child.

Two for Tuesday...

My favorite thing for the week is:

I read this book in high school after two of my best friends, Cassie and Chelsea, recommended it.  We were all obsessed with it.

It is by far my favorite book, not only because it is a well written classic but because it is probably the longest book I have ever read and I am proud I finished it.

That Margaret Mitchell really knows what she is doing.  She draws you in by making you love each character, although I had a love/hate relationship with Scarlet.  Often I do like to adopt her mantra of, "I'll deal with that tomorrow," but I definitely wouldn't have let that Rhett Butler get away.

If you don't have time for the book the movie is great but I highly suggest making time for this incredible read.

5 years ago today...

Tony and I were married

February 22, 2003

Salt Lake Temple

It was one of the greatest days of my life.  It was freezing cold, but still great.  You can't tell from the pictures but it was seriously cold.
I can't believe it has already been five years.  The time has just flown by and yet, at the same time, I feel like I have known Tony forever.  We have made a lot of memories during the past five years and I can't wait to make more.  I love you baby.

MGK...

Tonight was My Girlfriends Kitchen so I spent the better part of my day off on Tuesday shopping for and cooking my meal.
This month I went out on a limb and made:

Chili Pasta Bake

I did a test run on Ton and Kim and they really liked it so I hope everyone else does too.
12 pounds of beef and over 100 ounces of pasta made for a lot of cookin'.  Dad was making fun of me because I said cooking was a workout, I was stirring so much that my arm muscles were killing.  Mom let me cook it all at her house which was a lot easier because her kitchen is bigger and because she and Alicia were there to watch Ind and help me cook.
All the hard work paid off.
Here are the meals I came home with:

Almond Dijon Chicken
Chicken Pillows
Chinese Chicken Casserole
Spinach and Mozzarella Ravioli
Hoisen Marinated Pork Chops
Chicken Chilaquiles
Honey Lime Chicken
Hulk Hogan Chicken
Thai Lime Coconut Soup

Yum!

A wedding day...

February 16th, 2008

Cortney and Rodger's Wedding

Salt Lake Temple

Cort looked like a princess.
Me and Tony
This wasn't my cousins photographer, but this joker showed up about 5 minutes after the people he was supposed to be photographing had walked out of the temple.  They were just standing around waiting for him and once he was finally ready he made them act like they had just walked out.
First sign your wedding pictures are going to suck...your photographer is late.
Second sign...he has a mullet.
After the ceremony we went to The Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch.  Ton plays a good godfather.

The reception was at The Oakridge Country Club.

Adam and Mindi, you made it on the blog!
After the reception we headed to Alicia and Kev's for a fondue party.
Chocolate fondue with bananas, strawberries, pineapple and even potato chips (don't dis it til you try it, it is surprisingly delicious).
Cheese fondue with crusty bread and veggies.
Beef and chicken too.
We were exhausted after such a long, fun day.

A day of fun...

February 15th, 2008

The "cousins" are in town.

A few times a year my cousins from Washington and Colorado come to visit.  Anything from reunions, weddings, education week or just a vacation will bring them to town.  I love to spend every waking second with them and we definitely did just that this weekend.  We were up way too late Friday night (hence me missing the Friday Feature) playing games, eating and visiting at Moni and Cam's.  Aunt LeAnne stayed with us and it was so great to have her.  I truly feel like I am blessed with the greatest family ever and I consider them as some of my best friends.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the big event...

Two for Tuesday...

My favorite thing for this week:
Rimmel London Natural Bronzer
I am not into wearing a lot of make-up and luckily Tony is okay with that. He actually prefers when I don't wear any but I wouldn't go that far. There are a few essentials that I couldn't live without and this puppy is one of them. It is a lifesaver especially during the winter and has a magical way of making me look not dead by adding a little kiss of sun. I apply it liberally all over my face, neck and chest with a blush brush.

Check it out, it may just revolutionize your dreary winter skin.

A day of love...

February 14th, 2008

Valentine's Day

Tony comes through again.

Question: Do I have the most amazing husband?

Yes!
Tony gave Indie and me our own matching bouquets of the most beautiful pink roses, complete with a love note for each of us.  It was beyond wonderful.
We gave Indie a new froggy towel and this book.
Indie looked adorable in her Valentines outfit courtesy of Kim.
Our day started out with a scare as Alicia was rushed to the ER because of chest pain.  They were worried it might be a blood clot as pregnant women are at a higher risk for that.  After a blood test, an x-ray, and an EKG they ruled out a blood clot and sent her home.  Thank goodness everything was okay.
This is what I gave the girls for Valentines.  I bought the jar from Allie and Lindsey helped me make the "friend" scrapbook.
This year, instead of trying to find a babysitter on a holiday and fighting the crowds at a restaurant, we decided to stay in for a romantic dinner with our best friends.  We put the kids to bed early and enjoyed the evening.

The menu:

florentine artichoke dip
portobello mushroom saute
strawberry avocado salad
blue cheese crusted filet mignon with port wine sauce
chocolate covered strawberries and white chocolate mousse with blackberries
Allie did all the hard work so thanks Al.
It was a great day.

P.S. Friday Feature will return this Friday.
I really dropped the ball this weekend...explaination to follow.
