Say it ain't so...

Sadly, our very favorite place for ice cream/my favorite place for a cheap quick lunch has, out-of-the-blue, gone out of business.

Jake's Over the Top/Taco Maker closed their doors after over 12 years.  You can imagine how shocked we were to hear of its closing.

I guess there won't be anymore bean burritos or "you thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?" going on at our house...but maybe that is a good thing.

Now the search is on for a delicious shake place to replace our beloved Jakes.

A little incident...

The other night Ind took a spill that left her with this rug burn...
Literally, you can see the rug lines.  Of course, this happened 3 days before we were supposed to get her pictures taken by Hannah.  It has since healed up very nicely "and you can't see the lines, can you Russ."  So Hannah I will be calling you to reschedule.

While we are on the topic of incidents I should tell you about Indie's first "trip" down the stairs.  A few weeks ago she was cruising around the kitchen and playing in the different cupboards.  I was in our bedroom and Tony was on the computer.  He was checking on her every few minutes and at the time there was a bunch of junk blocking the stairway and he figured she couldn't make her way around it.  Well he was wrong....our little explorer worked her way around the junk and took a tumble.  All I could hear was the awful sound of her tumbling down the stairs and Tony running to get her.  I went tearing through the house to find her lying at the bottom of the stairs with the most confused look on her face.  She cried and cried, it was seriously so sad.  The best part is she has crooked little teeth which I obviously know about but in that moment when I saw them I thought she had knocked her teeth crooked.  Tony had to calm me down and remind me they were already like that.  After a few minutes of crying she was no worse for the wear.

Needless to say it is time for a gate.

Survivor...

We just finished watching the tivo-ed finale of Survivor.

I love that show.  In 9 years and 18 seasons I have probably only missed 2 or 3 seasons.

In all that time I have never disliked anyone as much as this guy...
Did anyone else want to punch this joker right in the face?!?

I am glad I won't be seeing anymore of this "Dragon Slayer."

Speaking of t.v./people we don't like, my distaste for Coach was only rivaled by Tony's utter hatred of Adam who just lost American Idol.  That's a whole other story.

Obviously we watch way too much t.v.

Ready to Rock...

Tony started the physician's assistant program today.
It was his
first
day of school for the
last
time...Ever!
He was fully equipped with his new bag, watch and phone, all of which he insisted would make him a better, more organized student.  I guess I can't argue with that.

He has class Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  So really it will be like a full time job.  He is going to continue working some evenings and some call shifts until July so we will have insurance benefits for the birth of the new baby.  I am used to him being at work for 7 days in a row and barely seeing him but I am also used to him having 7 days off in a row where all we do is play.  That is going to be the hardest part for me...I loved those weeks off.

We went to a mix and mingle/BBQ with a lot of the students on Saturday night and it was really exciting to meet the people he would be spending so much time with.  We met some great people who are in our same situation (school, young kids, living on loans) and I think we will make some great friendships over the next 27 months.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Keep up the good work baby, I am so proud of you!

Cuatro de Mayo...

I wanted to have a Cinco de Mayo celebration today but Tony had a biology final and Alicia and I had a card party so we decided to celebrate a day early.  I think I smell a new tradition brewing.

Monday night we had my family over for a little Mexican cuisine.  Chloe told me a few weeks ago that she loved when we had a fire last year at Tony's graduation party and wanted to do it again.  So, of course we had to that too.
Please note the couches on our back patio.  That's right, we are officially porch monkies.  We got some new (to us) couches (I will blog about that later) and put our old ones on the back porch until the garage sale (I will blog about that later too) and have ended up liking them there.  Kind of cozy.

Well besides this little narfer...
Here Indie is being fed chocolate by Grandma, and loving every bite.

Hanging out by the fire...

The best quote of the night came from Chloe.
We were sitting around the fire and little sparks were popping on us so mom said, "Chlo do you know what to do if you catch on fire?"  Shrugging her shoulders, she replied, "I don't know, run around in circles."  We were all dying of laughter.  Then we promptly taught the kids about "stop, drop and roll."

It was a great Cuatro de Mayo indeed.
