There ain't no doubt I love this land...

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays.  The parades, bbqs, swimming, fireworks, family, friends, and warm weather all make for a great day.

This year didn't disappoint.

We started the festivities out early this year by heading to the "Roundy 4th of July Bash" on Thursday night.  We pigged out on swiss burgers, took the kids for rides in the wagon pulled by the lawn mower, watched a movie on their outdoor screen and took the annual walk to 7-11...

Friday morning we went to the Kaysville parade.  I must admit I got a little misty as the flag went by followed by the marching band and then army trucks full of veterans.

Red, white and blue bracelets handmade by our cute little back door neighbor Olivia...

My beautiful neices showing their patriotism...

After the parade poor little Ind was all tuckered out and we did our best to keep her awake in the car so she would sleep at Joanie's while we did some swimming...

She ended up taking a 3 hour nap, boo-ya, a 4th of July miracle if you will.

Normally after the parade we go straight to Grandma and Grandpa Rigbys for the best damn bar-b-que around.  They go all out and the best part is Grandpa's homemade ice cream.  Well this year they decided that they are too old (their words, not mine) to continue this tradition.  So for the first time that I can ever remember, it took place at mom and dad's house.  Despite the change in location it was as rockin' as ever, right down to the homemade ice cream.

At dusk we, along with about 10,000 others, went to dear ol' Davis High to watch the fireworks.
Indie loved this glowing ball...
and watching the fireworks with Grandma...

We are so blessed to live in this country and to have so many men and women fighting for our freedom.  I want to give a shout out to my cousin's husband Mike, who is in Iraq right now, and to his family who is supporting him from Germany.  Thank you for your sacrifice, I love you guys.

It was a wonderful day!! I think that is just what I would do when you were little to try and keep you awake, but that one long wink of Indie's was all it took for you to have napped and then you were up and ready to go!!! Love MOM
